Okay, let’s talk about the THREE QUESTIONS we in Bloomingdale Township have been asking EVERY candidate. While they may seem a little silly at first, it is actually really important for you to know how your candidate will answer them. So, I will go through the questions and why each one was ...chosen for candidates to answer.
Question 1: Can a man get pregnant?
Again, on the surface this question seems a bit silly, absurd even, until you realize that some candidates answer in the affirmative or won’t answer at all. Why is this important? Because if a candidate answers in the affirmative, they clearly do not live in the same world as you and I. The question asks you to answer an immutable fact. If you answer yes, then you are either lying or you disagree with an immutable fact. If you disagree with this immutable fact, then what other immutable facts might you disagree with? Why in the world would you vote for someone that doesn’t know men can’t get pregnant. If you are lying to try to appease a portion of your base that actually believes a man can get pregnant, then you are clearly not the kind of person we should vote into office.
Now don’t get me wrong, you can believe anything you want, the sky is green, up is down and Epstein really did kill himself. I don’t care. But, once you run for office, it all makes a difference. Our elected officials, even at the County level, are in charge of hundreds of millions of dollars of our taxes and help develop laws we will need to follow. If you don’t live in the real world, I don’t want you anywhere near an elected office.

Question 2: Should men be allowed to play in women’s sports?
This question gets a bit more serious. There are very real safety issues and fairness issues involved with this subject. Obviously, I am not including little children in this discussion, but once a child hits puberty, everything changes. There are too many women who have been seriously injured competing against men in their sport. It is not safe. It isn’t fair to require a woman to compete against a man. There are physiological advantages in muscle mass, bone density and physical structure that men have. Women should not lose out on opportunities to play, or win scholarships, awards and recognition. It simply is not fair. If your candidate is willing to put women at risk of injury and rob them of opportunities just to appease a portion of their base, then they do not deserve your vote.



Question 3: Should socialism replace capitalism as our economic system?
Obviously, this issue is a bit more complicated, but I do not need to get into a deep philosophical discussion on the merits of capitalism or the evils of socialism. Suffice it to say socialism has never worked. Anywhere. Don’t try bringing up Denmark or Sweden as examples of where it has worked. They have been moving further and further away from their socialist policies and are better off for it. This is not to say there are no issues with capitalism, there’s cronyism, corruption, etc. We need to continually fight against these pitfalls, but there is no comparison in the success of capitalism. I bring this up because some of our local candidates have been endorsed by the so-called Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). So, I went on their website to see what they profess – here is a sampling of what I found:
No private ownership of land
Defunding the police
Abolishing the electoral college
Abolishing the US Senate
Replacing the Presidency and the US Supreme Court
Sounds radical enough for you? If you believe any of this is a good idea, then there is no way I want you in elected office at any level.

Well, that’s our THREE QUESTIONS we want EVERY candidate to answer. No, they are not policy related or tax related, but they might just reveal something about your candidate you didn’t know. Ask them. Go to a meet & greet, a candidate forum, a debate, whatever, and ask them the THREE QUESTIONS. You need to know their answers before you vote!

Walkers should plan to arrive at DuJardin School (166 South Euclid Avenue, Bloomingdale) by 10:00 a.m. The ...parade will step off at 11:00 a.m. We will not have a float for this parade.

Also, we have a booth at the fest following the parade. Elected officials, candidates, and volunteers will be helping us man the booth. Hope to see you there!
